Daily movie guessing game

What is Moviedle?

Moviedle is a free daily movie guessing game from Moviespot. Each day there is one mystery film and one short clip from its official trailer. The clip starts at just one second long, and you have five guesses to name the film.

Every wrong guess or skip unlocks a longer clip: 1, 2, 4, 8 and finally 16 seconds. The sooner you guess the movie from clips this short, the better your Moviedle score.

Rules

Moviedle rules

The same rules apply to today’s Moviedle film and to past films.

Five clips, five guesses

The Moviedle clip grows from 1 to 2, 4, 8 and 16 seconds. You win by naming the film within five guesses; after the fifth wrong guess or skip the answer is revealed.

Skips count

A skip uses one guess and unlocks the next clip length, exactly like a wrong answer.

Replays are free

Replay the unlocked clip from the start as many times as you want. Only guesses and skips use a chance.

One film a day

A new Moviedle film starts at 00:00 UTC, the same for everyone.

50 days of past films

Missed a day? Open Past films to play any Moviedle film from the last 50 days.

Guess by film

Search shows the release year, so remakes and films with the same title are easy to tell apart.

FAQ

Moviedle FAQ

Answers about clip lengths, daily films and sharing.

Is Moviedle free?

Yes. Moviedle is free to play in your browser with no account or signup. Your progress is saved in this browser.

How long are the Moviedle clips?

There are five clip lengths: 1, 2, 4, 8 and 16 seconds, one for each of your five guesses. Every clip starts at the same moment of the official trailer, so each one adds new footage to the last.

Does replaying the clip use a guess?

No. Replay the unlocked clip as often as you like. Only a guess or a skip uses one of your five chances.

When does a new Moviedle film start?

Every day at 00:00 UTC. If you are in the middle of a game at the reset, you can still finish it from Past films.

Can I play past Moviedle films?

Yes. Open Past films to replay any film from the last 50 days. Each day is a separate game with its own result.

What happens when I skip?

A skip uses one of your five guesses and unlocks the next, longer clip. It helps when one second of sound and picture gives you nothing to go on.

How is Moviedle different from the Daily Challenge and Unlimited?

Moviedle is one film a day with five guesses and clips of up to 16 seconds. The Daily Challenge has five films, one per difficulty, with clues of 1, 3, 6 and 10 seconds and a leaderboard. Unlimited lets you play as many rounds as you want at any difficulty.

Is this the official Moviedle game?

No. Moviedle on Moviespot is an independent game made by Moviespot. It is not affiliated with moviedle.app or moviedle.xyz.

Does sharing spoil the answer?

No. A shared Moviedle result shows only the puzzle number, your score and one square per guess: red for a wrong guess or skip, green for the right answer and black for guesses you did not need.
