The one-second movie challenge

A fantasy movie quiz for imagined worlds

A glowing doorway, a strange creature or a familiar castle can bring a whole fantasy world back to mind. Guess the fantasy movie from a short passage of its official trailer, beginning with just one second. Replay the unlocked clue, search for a title and check the year before choosing your answer. A wrong guess or Skip unlocks more footage within your four chances.

This collection brings together magical adventures, fairy tales, supernatural stories and films that mix fantasy with animation, comedy or romance. A film can belong to several collections, and the same title keeps its difficulty across Movie Spot. You are identifying the individual movie, so remembering a fictional world is only the first step when several sequels share its characters and scenery.

Four chances to recognize the film

Watch closely. Reveal more footage when needed.

  1. 01

    Watch the opening clue

Press Play for one second of the trailer passage. Look and listen before typing; the clue may start partway through a trailer.

  2. 02

    Choose a title and year

Search for a title, select the correct film and year, then press Guess. Selecting a suggestion prepares an answer; submitting it spends a chance.

  3. 03

    Use the next clue

A wrong guess or Skip unlocks three, six, then ten seconds. Replay is free. Four missed chances reveal the answer; Retry keeps the current difficulty.

Look closer. Listen again.

Look beyond the familiar world

Fantasy offers striking visual clues, but shared costumes and recurring characters can make neighboring films look alike. Build your guess from more than one detail.

Notice how the magic looks

Watch the colors, movements and objects associated with a spell or transformation. A doorway, a piece of jewelry or a creature can be more useful than a broad landscape. Pause your assumptions when a scene merely resembles a famous series, and replay the available footage to check what is actually on screen.

Separate the story from the series

The same hero, castle or costume may return across several films. Look for the age of the characters, the location of the scene and who appears together. Search the title you have in mind and compare the release years in the suggestions. Another stage can give you the event that identifies the exact installment.

Use the ordinary details too

Not every fantasy clue contains a dragon or a spell. A kitchen, a school uniform or a city street can place a story just as well. Listen to the dialogue and music when available, and combine those details with the visual style. There is no penalty for replaying the part you have already unlocked.

Fantasy movie quiz FAQ

Learn about saved progress, replaying clues and handling videos that will not load.

Does this collection include animated fantasy films?

Yes. A film can carry both Fantasy and Animation labels, so an animated fairy tale may appear in both collections. Live-action fantasy is included too. The format does not change the rules: identify the film from its trailer clip and select the matching title and release year.

Do I need to name the whole franchise?

Choose the individual film shown in the clip. A franchise name alone may match several different entries. Use the subtitle and year in the search suggestions to pick the right one, and unlock a longer clue if two installments still seem possible.

Can I replay without losing a chance?

Replay shows the unlocked passage again without spending a guess. Skip spends a chance and adds footage. At the final stage, Give up reveals the film.

Why are some difficulty levels coming soon?

Unavailable levels stay visible but disabled until their collections have enough variety. Choose an open difficulty; the game never fills a shortage with films from another genre.

Can I leave and finish the round later?

Each genre saves its own round in your browser session. Refreshing preserves it. Keep cookies enabled; clearing them or switching devices starts a separate session.

What if the video is unavailable?

Check your connection and volume, then use Retry video. Another movie replaces an unavailable clip at the same difficulty without spending a guess. Availability can vary by location.
