The one-second movie challenge

Moviespot: Can You Guess the Movie?

Moviespot is a free online movie guessing game where you guess the movie from a short video clip. Start with one second and look for a familiar face, setting, or sound. Search for the title, submit your answer, and unlock more footage if you need another clue.

It combines visual memory with film trivia in quick, unlimited rounds. Play at your own pace, replay a scene, and see how little footage you need to recognize the film.

How to Guess the Movie

Follow three simple steps in Moviespot: watch the scene, find the title, and reveal more video when you need another clue.

  1. 01

    Watch the first second

Press Play in Moviespot and watch the first second. A face, costume, setting, or line of dialogue may reveal the film. Replay the clip if you need another look.

  2. 02

    Name that movie

Type a title into Moviespot, select the matching film and year, then press Guess. Check remakes and sequels carefully: similar names do not make them the same answer.

  3. 03

    Reveal a little more

A wrong guess or Skip unlocks more footage in Moviespot. Playback continues from the previous endpoint, with watched progress preserved. Use your four chances to recognize the scene.

Is Moviespot free to play?

Yes. Moviespot is a free movie guessing game with unlimited rounds. No account, subscription, or download is needed. Open the site, choose a difficulty, and begin. Unlimited has no daily limit. Daily Challenge gives everyone the same five movies each UTC day, with an optional public leaderboard.

How do video clues and guesses work?

Each Moviespot round gives you four chances, using clips of 1, 3, 6, and 10 seconds. A wrong guess or Skip spends a chance and unlocks the next stage when one remains. A fourth wrong answer or Give up reveals the movie.

Does replaying a movie clip use a guess?

No. Replay starts the entire unlocked clip from the beginning without spending a chance. Skip works differently: it uses a chance and continues into newly unlocked footage. Watch again to catch dialogue or inspect a familiar face before guessing.

Can I choose movie genres or difficulty?

Moviespot offers five difficulty levels, from Easy to Impossible. Choose a genre from the homepage tickets, or open Movie Quizzes in the navigation or footer, to play Horror, Sci-Fi, Animation, Action, Comedy, Thriller, Drama, Fantasy, Romance or Crime. Each genre offers the difficulty levels with enough movies to play. Every level uses the same four clue lengths. Decade and director filters are not available.

What happens after I guess the movie?

After a Moviespot win, Next starts another film at the following difficulty; Impossible wraps back to Easy. After a loss, Retry stays at the current level. Restart round resets the same movie. Recently played titles are avoided when possible, but films can repeat once the available selection is used.

Does Moviespot save my progress?

An anonymous cookie connects your browser to a saved round for up to 30 days. Moviespot stores the round and recent movies on its server. Clearing cookies starts a new session, and progress does not sync across devices. Embedded trailers connect directly to YouTube under its privacy policy.

What if a video will not play or has no sound?

Check your connection and volume, then tap Play if playback pauses. In Moviespot, Retry video reloads the trailer, while Another movie changes films. A playback error does not count as a wrong guess. If a trailer remains unavailable, try a different movie.

Can I share my movie quiz result?

Yes. When your Moviespot round ends, open Share result to save an image of your ticket or copy your result. The ticket shows your outcome without naming the film. Compare scores with friends, but remember that this shares a result rather than creating a synchronized multiplayer game.
