The one-second movie challenge

A crime movie quiz for heists, gangs and investigations

A getaway, a tense meeting or a carefully planned robbery can bring a crime film back to mind. Guess the crime movie from a short section of its official trailer. You begin with one second, can replay the unlocked footage and have four chances to find the title. Search when a clue feels familiar and confirm the release year before submitting your guess.

This collection focuses on stories involving crime: heists, criminal organizations, police investigations and people caught on either side of the law. It overlaps with action, drama and thriller because films can carry several labels. The crime theme is the focus here; Thriller groups films around suspense and tension more broadly. You are naming a movie, so you do not need to solve its case or reveal its culprit.

Four chances to recognize the film

Watch closely. Reveal more footage when needed.

  1. 01

Press Play for one second of the trailer passage. Look and listen before typing; the clue may start partway through a trailer.

  2. 02

    Choose a title and year

Search for a title, select the correct film and year, then press Guess. Selecting a suggestion prepares an answer; submitting it spends a chance.

  3. 03

A wrong guess or Skip unlocks three, six, then ten seconds. Replay is free. Four missed chances reveal the answer; Retry keeps the current difficulty.

Look closer. Listen again.

Follow the details of the scene

Crime films share chases, suits and city streets. Distinctive places, relationships and objects help you move from a general impression to an exact title.

Identify the kind of operation

Notice whether the scene involves a bank, a casino, a street deal or a police interview. Clothing, equipment and the number of people can suggest a planned heist or an improvised escape. These details narrow the possibilities even when the clip does not show a famous actor or a major action sequence.

Watch the crew and the setting

Familiar performers often appear in several crime films, sometimes with the same director. Combine the cast with the apparent decade, city and relationships in the scene. A shared table or a particular getaway vehicle can help distinguish two otherwise similar titles. Use the release year in the search list as a final check.

Use context before choosing a twist

Remembering a plot reveal can suggest a title, but it may also distract you from what the clip actually shows. Rewatch the unlocked passage for a location, voice or small object that supports your guess. If you are choosing between a remake and an original, reveal more footage rather than relying on the premise alone.

Crime movie quiz FAQ

Learn about saved progress, replaying clues and handling videos that will not load.

How is Crime different from the Thriller quiz?

Crime centers on criminal acts, the people involved and the response to them. Thriller centers on suspense, danger and tension, which can also occur outside a crime story. A film tagged with both genres can appear in both quizzes; the collections overlap without having identical movie pools.

Do I have to identify the criminal or solve the mystery?

No. Submit the title of the film shown in the trailer clip. You do not need to name a character, explain a heist or reveal an ending. Some films include investigations or mysteries, while others follow the criminals from the beginning.

Can I replay without losing a chance?

Replay shows the unlocked passage again without spending a guess. Skip spends a chance and adds footage. At the final stage, Give up reveals the film.

Why are some difficulty levels coming soon?

Unavailable levels stay visible but disabled until their collections have enough variety. Choose an open difficulty; the game never fills a shortage with films from another genre.

Can I leave and finish the round later?

Each genre saves its own round in your browser session. Refreshing preserves it. Keep cookies enabled; clearing them or switching devices starts a separate session.

What if the video is unavailable?

Check your connection and volume, then use Retry video. Another movie replaces an unavailable clip at the same difficulty without spending a guess. Availability can vary by location.
